Love it or Leave It

How many of you feel compelled to "clean your plate?"

How many couldn't possibly throw food in the garbage?

Did any of you have to sit at the kitchen table until you ate your dinner when you were a kid?

I think most of us have somehow learned that when our plate isn't empty, we somehow failed. Unquestionably, it's not good to waste food. We get that. But, as adults, do we still believe there is a Clean Plate Posse lurking somewhere in the shadows ready to reprimand us when we don't lick the plate clean?

And what about those highly coveted desserts? You work so hard to resist the temptation. That luscious piece of chocolate cake is staring back at you, just waiting to be eaten. So, you ask yourself three times if you really really want to eat that cake. The resounding answer is YES! Of course, I want to eat it. So you take your first bite, and lo and behold, it's not quite what you had fantasized. Maybe it's a little dry or a bit too sweet or it's just not sweet enough.

What do most of us do? We go ahead and eat it anyway.

What should we do? We should push it away. It's just not worth it.

If you don't love it, leave it.
