
You know the old saying, "everything in moderation." I lived by that saying for the past several years, believing that even bad stuff (like cake, chocolate, ice cream and soda) was okay as long as I didn't overdo it.
But, time has taught me that moderation is just an excuse to eat or drink what I really want to eat or drink.
Let's be frank here ... if something is bad for you, it's bad for you. If something has a lot of calories in it. it has a lot of calories in it. If something is sugar-laden, it's sugar-laden.
No, moderation is not acceptable. If you're going to eat something that falls outside the realm of healthy, than call it what it is ... a momentary diversion from what is good. A cheat, of sorts.
And, don't feel guilty about it ... as long as you spread the cheats out. We all can't be perfect all the time. We just have to strive to eat healthy a lot more often than not.
